Zakwe started releasing music as an underground artist. He released a number of mixtape which where titled strrt music. In 2011 he released a self titled album Zakwe which made a huge success and gained him fame.
He won the Metro awards for best Hip pop artist and best Lyricist awards at the South African hip pop awards. Zakwe’s success and talent earned him endorsement deals with SAB Miller and Hennessy.
In 2015 he released Impande an album which became an instant hit and earned him three nominees. Zakwe then released again a hit single called sebe tin featuring Cassper Nyovest.
